Extension: Regional Specialized Agent, Rural and Agribusiness Development
Kevin Athearn serves Florida’s Northeast Extension District with applied research and extension programs in agricultural economics, business and marketing. Since joining UF/IFAS Extension in 2015, he has been working with researchers, extension agents, farmers and other stakeholders to improve access to research-based information and enhance the economic viability of agriculture in the region. With broad training in economics of agriculture and natural resources, his prior work has covered topics such as organic agriculture, environmental labeling, fisheries, outdoor recreation and tourism, regional economics, international trade, and food markets. His current applied research focuses on crop production budgets for North Florida and economics of water quality/quantity best management practices (BMPs). His extension programs assist beginning and experienced farmers with marketing and management decision making.

His extension programs assist beginning and experience farmers with marketing and management decision making. He helps farmers use budgets and economic analysis to evaluate alternative enterprises, investments in new technologies, changes in production practices and other management decisions
