The SVAEC and NE Agricultural Extension Agents focus on varietal trials, product efficacy studies, crop rotations, precision agriculture tools and technology that can increase growers' profits from crop production. With over 200,000 acres in the region devoted to corn, peanut and soybean, more work is needed to help them make sound business decisions.
Through on-farm and replicated trials our team of farmers and agents work to discover, validate and increase the use of inputs and practices that improve:
- Efficiency of input application and utilization (water and fertilizers)
- Profitability (verified through yield measurements and input cost studies)
- Environmental stewardship (to protect our groundwater and springs)
Extension programs include field days, workshops, on farm demonstrations, and growers meetings to share the results across the state for wider adoption.
